Support Whirligig and Support Irish Theatre and Talent
Traditionally the Arts in Ireland, including Theatre Arts, were funded by government through the Arts' Council. However, in recent years due to our unique financial situation, cuts in investment in the arts have lead to the closure of many Theatre Companies. In common with other small arts' organisations, Whirligig Theatre Company has tried to produce high quality theatre on small budgets. Inevitably this means that actors and directors are working for little or no money while striving to create theatre that leaves a lasting experience, theatre that connects, theatre that inspires. On 8th October 2014, the minister for the Arts Heather Humphreys TD laid out her priorities for the arts and stressed the hugely positive impact of arts and culture in our society. However, it is essential that we investigate means other than traditional funding
options to enable us to continue to produce high quality work.
In choosing to produce Risk Everything we were motivated by the
desire to bring work by an internationally renowned dramatist to a new audience.
George F. Walker is relatively unknown in Ireland and we are convinced that
Irish audiences will enjoy and appreciate this new voice.
We are seeking your help in bringing Walker's work to our audiences, initially in Dublin and later in a planned tour outside of the capital.
We hope that you will be interested in supporting Risk Everything.
